We meet in the History Center at Historic Fort Snelling, a facility which has served our country from the 1820’s to the present. Fort Snelling is located at the junction of Minnesota Highways 5 and 55, one mile east of the Twin Cities International Airport. The mailing address (and MapQuest link) is 200 Tower Ave, St. Paul, MN 55111-4004.
From the West on Hwy 62: Take Hwy 62 east straight past the exit for Hiawatha Avenue (Hwy 55). Approximately 2 blocks take the right hand exit, which is labeled Historic Fort Snelling (Henry Bishop Whipple Federal Bldg is also at this exit). At the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp turn left, go one block to next stop sign, turn left and go to the end of this road (approximately 2 blocks) turn right. Proceed up a slight grade into a large parking lot. The History Round Table events are held in the Auditorium at the Historic Fort Snelling Visitor Center. From South/SouthWest on Hwy 5: On Hwy 5, go past the airport and continue in the right hand lane to follow the signs for Minneapolis/Mendota Bridge. Do not take Mendota exit! Just beyond the Mendota exit watch for the Historic Fort Snelling/Bloomington Road exit (approximately 2 blocks) and get off (it is a right hand clover leaf exit). At the base of the exit ramp go straight through the stop sign and proceed up a slight grade into a large parking lot. The History Round Table events are held in the Auditorium at the Historic Fort Snelling Visitor Center. |
